Abstract. – a case is made here for dating the euergetic activities of the Kymaian benefactress archippe to the 160s or 150s Bc rather than to the period after the war against aristonikos, and for seeing her as closely affiliated with the type of benefactor-philos represented by e.g. Pamphilos of adramyttion, asklepides of Pergamon or Herakleides, timokrates and eirenias of miletos (as well as the young moschion of Priene). it is proposed that the bouleuterion which archippe built in Kyme should be related, both stylistically and in date, to that built at miletos between 175 and 164 Bc by Herakleides and timokrates « in the name of king antiochos iv ». it is speculated that archippe herself may have had connections to the seleukid court.
