Résumé. – Le poème De mortibus boum, du rhéteur Severus Sanctus Endelechius composé vers la fin IVe s. présente les signes distinctifs du baroque théodosien ou baroque tardif romain. Cette conception de l’esthétique qui a eu une grande influence dans la littérature latine de l’antiquité tardive se traduit en particulier par une rénovation totale du genre bucolique et la suprématie du surnaturel sur l’ordre naturel troublé, selon l’idéologie triomphaliste de la poesie theodosienne.
Abstract. – The poem De mortibus boum, written in the end of the 4th century by the christian rhetorician Severus Sanctus Endelechius, presents the specific features of the Theodosian baroque or late Roman baroque. This aesthetic conception, very influential in late antique Latin literature, is particularly reflected in the transformation of the bucolic genre and in the victory of the supernatural over the disturbed natural order, in accordance with the triumphalist ideology of Theodosian poetry.
